Hello
About PPI Look at manual, see appendix A for pinout:
http://support.automation.siemens.com/W ... en/1109582

About MPI/Profibus Look at part 6.3 of
http://support.automation.siemens.com/W ... n/14053309
- MPI is PROFIBUS based and is using the regulations of PROFIBUS too... So you have max. 256 Byte long telegrams with Header and Taylor like PROFIBUS.

- PPI is RS485 based and closely to PROFIBUS but due to the smaler performance for Communication the PPI Telegramm can contain gaps within the Data... so you have usually no defined Telegramlength like you would need it for PROFIBUS. Due to this MPI and PPI do not work together.

Thank you for information, but I was thinking about detailed specifications about (PPI)OSI layers and how and when which bytes are sent and which information they carry.

Like TCP/IP is defined and widely known, which and with what purpose is every byte sent.
Sorry if I'm a bit unclear, my main concern is PPI protocol.
Thanks

I'm aware that PPI protocol is kept secret, but I'm a student, neither do I have time or enough knowledge to make anything to represent a threat.
My goal is to make a application which could communicate with PLC, and to make my own basic library.
