[?]: Sales Arguments for Siemens S7 PLC

Post by Dr Grossfeld »

Dear Friends of Industrial Automation,

I am a Siemens user for more than 20 years.
I would like to ask your opinion about what are the key selling points of Siemens S7 PLC?.
Why do you think Siemens S7 PLC is the best?.
Why do you think Siemens S7 PLC is better than Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Omron, Keyence, LG, GE, etc?.
Because nowadays technology is almost the same. What one company can not do today, they can surely do tomorrow.
At the end, there is no more discussion about technology but more and more price issue.
So, what do you think the key selling points of Siemens S7 PLC?.
Let's discuss. Thank you.

Sales arguments for S7 PLC

Post by Maxime »

Hello Dr Grossfeld,

Of what I can hear and see is that Siemens isn't the cheapest. Still a lot is done with Siemens. Because also S7 is pretty easy to program and learn, it's also flexible. It lasts long and it's well known, it's the biggest brand in Europe, not in US.
Schools mostly only learn S7, so that's why it's a common system to use.

Simatic PLCs have more documentation in different languages than any others.

Not everything is in Dutch, most of our manuals are in English or French...
But that's not an argument wether or not to buy it.
I can't complain about the service, allthough it could be better structured.
But then again, I never bought myself a Siemens product which needed big support...

Hello everybody!

Happy and healthy new year!

I believe that S7 is not the best. Is the best because of wrong mentality of technicians. Many technicians say: "Install germany device and no problem".

Also, siemens has very good sales managment system and nowdays under SIEMENS umbrella there is whole world almost. Too many kind of companies has boughted by SIEMENS. Therefore, these companies use S7.

S7 based on quantity and no on quallity.

Finally, I beleive that there are PLC's equally to SIEMENS S7. (Mitsubishi are very good according to my opinion).

I am from Romania and here the support Siemens is offering is very good.If we have problems they try to help us.They do some products presentation very often and I think this is a good way to promote their products and for us to stay in current.
