FLEX LM Reversing and How Digital signature check is bypass

Hi Guys.
I'm looking for some more information in which how you reverse the FLEXLM server to allow the feature codes to be accepted although it fails the digital signature check.
Also, how are you finding the actual feature codes? Is this simply a higher level patch in the program or a patch in the function of the dll?
I would like to know for learning and application to a different target.

What tools to be used? Ollydbg? Windbg? Softice?
