Why can't transfer Project to TP170B with converter USB-COM?

Post by pacheco » Thu Apr 12, 2007 10:16 pm

Hello!!!!!!!!!
i have a question, why not work's the converter USB - SERIAL in my laptop to transfer project from protool or wincc flexible to TP170B?
I know that it's no possible because i was reading the FAQ in the support siemens.
BUT
What is the difference from the serial ports between "converter USB-SERIAL" and "port serial from my deskop computer"
(diferens Signal, voltage, or what??)

In my deskop computer i can download the project from protool or wincc flexible to TP170B.

I hope that somebody can answer this doubt to me

Now, do exist someway to deceive the laptop, software or anything for can download the project to panel trought from "converter USB - SERIAL" serail????????
greetings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Diferens adress/data registers and I/O timing for hardware COM-port and Virtual COM-port.

mostly because of driver of USB-〉com converter, need real hardware INT, so it's very difficult to find on the market.
you can use PCMCIA -> COM

Mmm, that is weird, i used a usb->serial with several TP170B and it worked.

May be is your usb dongle.

I experienced some problems, sometimes wincc said that it couldn´t find the panel, but i repeted downloading and it worked. It happened a lot of times, i needed to send the file twice in order to work. But that happened with my legacy serial port and the usb dongle.

Then i replaced my usb-> serial dongle with a usb->mpi and no problem ;)

May be you are using the wrong serial cable, you need a croosover, only 3 pins are used:

DB9 DB9
2 -> 3
3 -> 2
5 -> 5

As i remember.

Hi !!!
The configuration in my serial is

SHield------------SHield
2-------------------3
3-------------------2
5-------------------5
4-------------------6
6-------------------4
7-------------------8
8-------------------7

this configuration work's perfectly in my CPU deskop computer, (i can transfer the project to panel), but in my laptop i can't transfer the project from protool or wincc flexible to panel, i was reading in the FAQ siemens and it's no possible use the converter USB-SERIAL, my question was what is the diference between the port my CPU and Converter USB- SERIAL, and one solution for this problem. one solution is the CP5512
