[?]: WinCC v13 & vmWare

Hi.
I have to configure a Dell Server in order to run, under vmWare ESXi 5.5:
1 virtual machine as WinCC server
12 virtual machine as WinCC client
1 virtual machine as TIA portal Developping Engineering Station

My host computer is a Dell with the following hw configuration:
- CPU: DOUBLE Intel Xeon E5-2430 v2 2.50GHz, 15M Cache, 7.2GT/s QPI, Turbo, 6 CORE
- RAM: 64GB RDIMM, 1600 MHz
- STORAGE: 2TB SAS SAN

The number of connected PLC to WinCC Server is 12, about 25000 tag.

Can somebody help me in order to assign the correct number of virtual CPU to each virtual machine and to understand the ratio between virtual CPU and physical CORE?

Same question related to the memory to assign to each virtual machine.

I bet, with Your Hardware, You won't get Your System running!
1. ES should be Windows 7-64 Pro/Ult. (4 Cores / 16 GB RAM)
2. WinCC Server needs Windows Server (4 Cores / 16 GB RAM)
3. WinCC Client needs Windows 7 (2 Cores / 4 GB RAM)

We (richard's Engineering - industrial Automation) refuse to set up virtual Environments with PCS 7!
Too slow, low reliabilty, unstable!

6 CORE is really bad for WinCC SQL version - it can crash in system with N*3 core CPU
N*2 = 4 or 8 is prefered

It is not clear if you are speacking about physical core or virtual core. In anycase you mean that the preferred number of cores should be 2,4, or 8 ?

My first idea was to assign the virtual cores ( ratio between pCore and vCore = 1:4) and the RAM in the following way (i add other 64 GB of phisical RAM):

1. Engineering Station (8 Virtual Cores - 16 GB RAM) --> total 1 Engineering Station
2. WinCC Server (8 Virtual Cores - 16 GB RAM) --> total 1 WinCC Server
3. WinCC Client (2 Virtual Cores - 4 GB RAM) --> total 12 WinCC Client


So the total needed vCore is 40 (44 available, if one is dedicated to ESXi) and the RAM is 80 GB (128 GB available)

Do you think it can work?

To clarify our point of view: When somebody says "It is supported", that does not at all mean, it's a good solution!
Once again: virtualization was developed to help those poor People, that can not afford suitable hardware!

it's a good solution for some cause - for internet service

but for Automation is prefered 2 real redundant PCs with redundant WinCC Server
