phpBB Board for iPhone

Post by monty_burns_007 » Wed Nov 10, 2010 6:51 pm

Hi,

As a frequent user of your excellent (clap) PLC/HMI phpBB board I also use the board on ipod touch (or iphone is the same).
But with safari browser on iDevices phpBB board is a hell to browse, zoom pinch zoom.....

I looked on the apple store programs and there is an APP for this : touchBB.
But it doesn't work without a script installed on the server side of the forum. :(

Maybe the forum could be extended with such an option as there are more and more mobile users (also on this forum) ?

script and info here :

http://www.messageforums.net/iphoneforumreader.php

http://itunes.apple.com/app/touchbb-for ... 52610?mt=8

edit: there are even more better solutions : http://www.forumrunner.net/ (looks to me is the best, and free browser)
or http://www.tapatalk.com/

edit: there are a lot of iphone APPS (free or for a few bucks), but all require small scripts to be added server side.

hmmm still no response of admins,.... is this forum dead ? :?

Well i just found THE solution for iPhone board users, it's the only forum board reader where there doesn't have to be server side installed scripts.
It just works out of the box !! (suc)

I'm afraid of untested solutions after Stuxnet.

Hi Administrators,

Is the opinion of the administrator group changed the past years ?
For iPhone/iPad the "Forums" app still works great but for those who use Android (phones and pads) there are no phpbb board readers.
Only the forum tools like tapatalk, forumrunner, .... but these require a board adaptation (server side)

I would be sad if plcforum board didn't follow normal evolution that people use a Pad in their living room while surfing the internet instead of a PC.
Especially the difference between an app and normal website browsing on a Android or Iphone is much better with a app (no zooming issues etc...)
