Method for Installation of Indusoft V2020 using SP4 licensing method

Step-1: Install Indusoft 8.1 SP4
Step-2: Register it using the usual method (replacement of three files and registering 9999 3C method)
Step-3: Install Indusoft 2020 in the same folder you installed V8.1 SP4 <------ Important
Step-4: Run the program it will give the license error (no Problem)

Step-5: In the instlled folder (in my case C:\Program Files (x86)\InduSoft Web Studio v8.1\Bin) open "Programs Setting.ini" and change Version from 2020 to 8.1 and ServicePack from 4 to 6 under [Install] as shown below:

ServicePack=6 <------------ just to differentiate between SP4 & 2020

Run the program it will work but when you will check the About menu it will show version 8.1 SP6.
Actually, what we are doing here is using the registration of 8.1 and then making the v2020 think it is version 8.1 by changing "Programs Setting.ini" file.

Please provide feedback if it works for you or not. If it does not work I will provide another method (a lengthy one that require installation of v8.1 SP4 and then v2020 and v2020 again)

A temporary 180 days development license:
• 4k tags (Operator Workstation)
• 1 Web Thin Client
• 1 Secure Viewer Thin Client
• 1 Mobile Access Thin Client


1- Login your Indusoft account

2- Download the educational version of Indusoft from below link (this is different from commercial version)

3- Run the register option and get the site code for your computer

4- Go to following site and enter the site code obtained in step 3 and use c24f4e80-52a3-4544-9763-e47e9b8b508c as activation key

*There is a chance that you will get an automated email from Indusoft with your own Activation Key that you may need to use at step-4 along with Site Code.

succes with this metode. but v2020 still not recognize valid license if opening project from previous version eg. 8.1 sp4.

I tried your method for Aveva Edge 2020R2 SP2 and it worked like a charm... the differences are the installation path, version and number of tags. In my case the folder was "C:\Program Files (x86)\AVEVA\AVEVA Edge 2020" and Version was 20.0 instead of 8.1 and I changed it to 2.020. I licensed 64K tags using 28 instead of 3C to ensure compatibility. I think 10 millions of tags is a bit too much. xD
