I'm not familiar with Intouch, but have you looked into ODBC?

Above mentioned wwgenericsqlgrid use ODBC way of connection. But this tool is not suported in Intouch 10.5 or higher installed in 64 bit OS.
There is a easy way to have a connection to MSSQL database. But for all the rest DB it seems needs Information Application Server...practically I still investigate it.
