[?]: S7-400H + DASS7+ InTouch?

Post by Mikhalych » Mon Dec 14, 2009 2:40 pm

Hi friends!
I have experience in work with S7-300 and InTouch through Wonderware DASS7.
But I can’t find information about working S7-400H and InTouch through of DASS7-server.
Does DASS7 i/o-server support s7-fault tolerant connection?

thx

Hello Mikhalych,
DASS7 works with S7-400H but you will need S7REDCONNECT SW and license from Siemens to support s7-fault tolerant connection.

thx Gene !
have you seen that ability (s7-fault tolerant connection working through DASS7) in manuals and instructions?
or have you used that?

thx

Hi Mikhalych,

yes, I've used S7-fault tolerant connection via S7-REDCONNECT and DASS7 in Intouch.
Main thing in this - S7-REDCONNECT. Exactly this SW provides fault tolerance.
In DASS7 configuration you defines just one connection, not two. Even more - you don't define,
you select this connection from SIMATICNET configuration. If working Ethernet card will loose
connection, exactly S7-REDCONNECT will switch you to standby card.

By the way, now InTouch has DASSIDIRECT driver where you can define two connections
(one for master Ethernet CP, one for standby) and switch this connections manually from InTouch script.
In this way you will have fault tolerant connection without S7-REDCONNECT.

Kindest Regards.

Hi Gene!
I have another question.
Is it necessary to buy SIMATIC NET IE license?
S7-redconnect license is not enough. Is it?

Hello Mikhalych!

If I remember right, it is not neccessary to buy Simatic Net, just S7-REDCONNECT
which itself has licenses of S7-OPC-server+S7-1613+fault tolerant connection.
