Hi all,

I have a SCADA system (Factory Talk) running at a plant and it has to exchange data with a remote PLC (CompactLogix) which is located at another plant. I thought of using VPN, but I've never used it before and I'm not sure if it fits to continuous data acquisition.
Any suggestion?

How are you going to access the remote compact? somehow directly to the processor or through a server at the site?
Using a OPC server? RSLinx- used to have to have linx gateway to poll data remotely.
Most setups I've seen use a 3rd party opc tunneling package to make it simpler for firewalls, compressing data, etc.
