Post by sventek » Mon Dec 27, 2010 8:00 am

Dear Omron Experts!

I've never used an Omron plc. Now, I've to make a programm change on this plc. It's a SYSMAC C28K. What kind of software do I need for? And what kind of interface do I need to contect the plc tho the pc?
Thanks a lot for your answers!

Best regards
sventek

Dear friend,
as far I know is not possible to be connected with a PC to this controller.
Few years ago I had a similar situation.
The way for solving of your situation is to read out the PLC program using console.
Write all the instructions (line by line) on paper.
Write this program on ladder for a modern Omron controller and print it out.
Then convert them on Siemens .

Good luck,
dekor.

Hi, sventek.
Let your C28 retired, it worked 20 years at least.

Watch the machine and write new program for it. Use Omron CPM1(2)A or CP1E or CP1L unit as as substitute.
I suggest you to use only Omron unit, otherwise you will get from a racing horse to a donkey. :)

Here is user manual for C20 series:

Hi dekor and Homeroid_BL!

@ dekor: Thanks for the "console" hind. So I know now, how the plc can be programmed.
@ Homeroid_BL: Thanks for the manual. I'll try to keep it on a Omron type :)

@ both: Nice help!

Greetings

Yes, long time ago since the last answer, but maybe someone can need it:

It is needed a horst link unit C20-LK201-EV1 omron ref: 3G2C7-LK201-EV with a rs232c cable, and syswin software.

http://www.ia.omron.com/support/guide/2 ... ation.html

I have to advice you to ensure if the program uses data sheeds, if yes, you have to read and save them into a ddm with the data editor. If you don't do that and you just upload the program ladder data will be erased, so remember to transfer every time.

It does not hold on-line changes.
Ensure to keep out the host link unit in RUN mode before switch down power, if not, next time you give power to plc it starts in STOP mode.

Cya.
