Is MPI- cable 6ES7 901-0BF00-0AA0 match for PROFIBUS network ?

Post by Alex3110 » Fri Aug 11, 2023 4:08 am

Some sites (i.e. https://www.classicautomation.com/Part/ ... 0bf00-0aa0 ) inform that
6ES7901-0BF00-0AA0 = MPI/Profibus Online Cable

Anybody tryied to connect ?
I want to connect CPU 313C-2DP and CP5613A2 with MPI- cable 6ES7 901-0BF00-0AA0.

Transmission Rate I use in Profibus communication cobfiguration is 187,5 kbps

Will it not break anything in HW of CPU or CP5613A2 ?

it`s cable only without converter, can work with any speed on mpi/profibus network.
for use the cable you are need any profibus/mpi converter/cp-card
p.s. can be replaced with regular profibus cable with 2 connectors

Profibus at low baud rates (like 187,5) is very forgiving. Using it for point-to-point will probably work fine. If your network extends beyond that, or you need to run at higher speeds, you should really use the proper cable type and connectors, with termination at the two ends. I have seen Profibus work well enough when a lot was done incorrectly, but it can have weird "gremlins" that pop up from time to time.
When done correctly, it's about a solid as they come.
